Akbari Nihari – A Royal Dining Experience

Shahi experiences are challenging to execute correctly. Akbari Nihari takes delicious Nihari and a Shahi ambiance to create a genuinely royal dining experience.

Located on the Port Grand food street, the restaurant launched in October of 2019. The launch ceremony was befitting that of the Mughal Empire with a red carpet and star-studded guests.

Akbari Nihari Interior

Akbari Nihari’s interior blends modernity with the Mughal Empire. The restaurant has done this by incorporating historical elements while maintaining comfortable seating to uplift the dining experience.

Akbari Nihari Menu

The menu features various types of Nihari, including Darbari and Shahi Nihari. Darbari is a take on original Nihari prepared with exotic seasonings, herbs & spices, while Sahi takes it to another level by adding Maghaz and Nalli.

Also on the menu is a Lajawab Chicken Nihari, Beef Haleem, and a triad of different roti and naan. For dessert, there’s qulfi and Gulab Jaman. The restaurant adds daily specials to keep the menu fresh and exciting.

The service at Akbari Nihari is akin to being served at a Mughal Mahal, designed to make you feel like royalty.

About Port Grand

Port Grand is a port-side development in Karachi that incorporates a food street promenade, shopping arcade, and exclusive events tavern. The family-friendly entertainment spot has an interesting story. Port Grand’s facility is around the exact place where Sir Charles Napier gave the orders to construct the jetty.

Sir Charles Napier was the conqueror of Sindh and Governor of the province from 1843 to 1847. He gave orders to construct the jetty standing under a 150-year old Banyan Tree, around which Napier’s Tavern currently stands. It serves as the primary building for special events held at Port Grand.

With the current lockdown restrictions calling for a ban on indoor dining, Port Grand is the perfect place for safe family outings. All restaurants, including Akbari Nihari, have relocated dining tables to the open-air boardwalk at Port Grand. With this arrangement, visitors can enjoy a peaceful meal by the water while maintaining social distancing.
